MEET THE
Built by three generations of the Wilhelm family, Friendly Farm continues to thrive as both a growing family-run business and a Northern Baltimore County landmark.

JACK + DOROTHY
Starting with humble beginnings in their Upperco farmhouse, Jack and Dorothy Wilhelm founded Friendly Farm Restaurant in 1959. While serving many years in the Army, Jack also spent many hours on the farm.
In the fall of 1957, Jack was picking corn on the farm when his leg was caught in the corn picker. After a long recovery process, Jack realized his farming days were over and got a vision to turn his old farmhouse into a restaurant. Dorothy joined his dream and they finally opened the restaurant in 1959 and it was called “Friendly Farm Steakhouse” which seated approximately 44 guests.
The original farmhouse still stands today as you enter the lane and is an iconic landmark that served many of our customers back then!

GARY + JANE
Wilhelm
Brothers Larry and Gary Wilhelm, as well as their families, carried on the Wilhelm family tradition by expanding the restaurant into the building that houses all of our operations today. Jane Wilhelm oversees the front of the house with all daily operations.
Together, the Wilhelm brothers and their families continued on the tradition of serving award-winning family recipes and exceptional customer service with a growing team.

CAROLINE
Siblings Caroline and Chris are looking to add to the next chapter in Friendly Farm history as they expand on new opportunities here on the 200 acre farm.
The newly renovated banquet hall, which includes new menu options and beverage (alcohol) packages, is the first step in a new era at the farm.
Stay tuned for more exciting things to come!
